The recognition and interpretation of handwritten document images require robust computer vision and pattern recognition methods. Despite the latest advances in deep learning, the recognition and interpretation of these particular documents is still challenging. Methodologically, the work will focus on the development of deep learning techniques (including sequence to sequence models, generative adversarial networks and graph neural networks) for improving both the recognition and the extraction of semantic information from multi-writer manuscripts.
