A total of 108.000 people visited this year’s Mobile World Congress at Fira Barcelona this past week. Companies from all the countries presented their latest technology, as so did the Computer Vision Center in its stand at the Catalan Pavillion at CS 50.

Four days of intense work, networking and idea sharing and the CVC presented its research focusing in three demos: food recognition, facial emotions detection and information extraction from historical documents. Along with the catalan NGO Pallapupas, the Computer Vision Center developed a smile detector which was presented at the Congress with a high success rate. The Center’s technology was present in an interactive roll up featuring the center’s research and technological development at a whole, and visitors where interested in all aspects of CVC’s work: medical imaging, industry, connected car, surveillance and document processing.

The Congress had plenty of demostrations, from AR ‘rollercoasters’ to driving with the mind, connected car and smart cities at a click where also a common trend. The CVC had the opportunity to present its research to a high number of professionals from different businesses worldwide and gain reputation at a local scale with the visit of different personalitites and politicians. A great opportunity to widen horizons and give a robust, international projection.
